About the Department
The Seligman Police Department is funded through a one-cent municipal sales tax within the City of Seligman. This tax was approved by the citizens of Seligman in April 2025. As a direct result of this funding measure, the department was able to establish an additional full-time patrol officer position.
For Fiscal Year 2026, the Police Department’s budget was approved in the amount of $193,660. This allocation provides for personnel salaries, fuel, vehicle maintenance, professional services, equipment, and operational supplies. Capital expenditures, including the purchase of patrol vehicles, are funded separately through the City’s Capital Improvements Fund.

How do I request a ride along?
The Seligman Police Department encourages those interested in a ride along to contact the department at 417-662-3600. You will need to complete the ride along request form, located at City Hall. After your completed form is reviewed and approved you will be contacted regarding the scheduling of a ride along time. Not all ride along request are approved.
Does the Seligman Police Department unlock car doors when the keys are locked inside?
This is not a standard policy, however in the event a small child or animal are locked inside we will assist in getting the car unlocked. The Seligman Police Department will assist you in obtaining the services necessary, such as a certified locksmith, or tow services, to unlock your vehicle.
When can I come to the police department to get fingerprinted?
The Seligman Police Department does not offer this service. There are companies that will provide this service.
Who is the Custodian of Records for the police department?
The Chief of Police is the designated Custodian of Records, per city ordinance.
May I obtain a copy of a police officer's discipline file?
No. These records are closed under Missouri Revised Statute section 610.021(13) and 590.502(14).
Can a criminal defendant access police records related to his pending case under the Sunshine Law?
No. Attorney General Opinion No. 200-94 states that if criminal charges are filed, disclosures of police reports should occur under the applicable Rules of Criminal Procedure promulgated by the Missouri Supreme Court. As a result, the defendant is generally required to seek his disclosures from the prosecuting attorney and not the law enforcement agencies directly.
